Mission

Green Education Inc. partners with stakeholders to educate, revitalize and transform communities into green sustainable neighborhoods, creating healthy and energy efficient environments in the process.

Vision

  • Establish Green Education Inc. as an integral provider for education, internships, hands on job experience and community partnerships geared towards creating energy efficiency and renewable energy projects in disadvantaged communities.
  • Create outreach/education and awareness programs and events to effectively inform the general public of green technology, including the energy savings and health benefits from retrofitting existing housing stock with energy efficiency and solar energy improvements.
  • Drive the transformation of existing communities towards sustainable, healthy, energy efficient neighborhoods, homes, buildings and schools.
  • Rebuild our local economies through green business and job creation.
  • Create a greener and more sustainable environment led by trained community members/community based partner organizations, interns and residents living in disadvantaged, pollution neighborhoods.

Current Projects & Initiatives

  • Los Angeles Department of Water & Power: Small Business Direct Installation Program – Energy Efficiency audits & retrofits for small businesses 30 kw & below. Approximately 2000 Los Angeles based businesses retrofitted with energy efficiency/water improvements as a result of Green Education Inc. outreach and education efforts.
  • Green WORKS! Internship Program – Hands on job experience and education opportunities for young adults 18-24 years old living in the cities of Wilmington and Long Beach. Program connects young adults to green related training and jobs in solar energy, energy efficiency, native landscaping, urban farming, green building, and electric/hybrid transportation.
  • Building Healthy Communities (BHC) Solar Installation: Connect low-income families to solar energy systems. Partnership with GRID Alternatives, BHC and Green Education Inc.
  • Green The Block Initiative (Wilmington & Long Beach neighborhoods): Transform low-income neighborhoods via energy efficiency home improvements, native landscaping, Victory Farms, gray water and Aquaponics farming systems and Sustainability 101 ongoing training.
  • Annual Earth Day “Green Prize Festival” – Promote local achievements in sustainability and educate the public in creating more environmentally healthy/focused cities, not only on Earth Day, but everyday.
  • City of Los Angeles: LA Epic Reusable Bag Giveaway – Distribute 1 Million reusable bags to Los Angeles residents and businesses; educate community members about the plastic bag ban and ways in which to live more sustainably.
